Since 2013, there have been over 472 school shootings in America – an average of nearly one per week. On Wednesday, July 20th, 45 Amphitheater Unified School District administrators and support personnel received the knowledge, skills and abilities to better survive an active violence event. Conducted by Integrated Community Solutions to Active Violence Events (ICSAVE) and the Arizona Church Security Network, I LIVED (Active Violence Response Course) is a set of proactive, options-based strategies, that increase community members’ chances of survival and bridge the gap between the time a violent event begins, and law enforcement arrives. These participants learned and experienced the decisive advantages of proactive vs. passive response strategies via numerous live scenario drills and Bleeding Control interventions and are now empowered to help save lives!
