ACTIVE VIOLENCE RESPONSE AND REALITIES

Every week in this country, communities of all sizes are subjected to the horrors of mass murder. Every week we see more video of people running for their lives, the images repeated endlessly on television. Only the places change. The looks of terror, the sadness, and disbelief on the faces of those affected remains the same. Every week families are torn apart. Every week there are more survivors, more witnesses to evil.

We in the Fire Service must have a response. We must be willing to prepare for active, violent events. No matter the organization’s size, resources, or lack thereof, Fire Service leadership of all stripes owes effective training and operating guidelines to their members and communities. Fortunately, many public safety organizations have taken action and prepared. Unfortunately, many have not. This course is intended to help change that.

Designed to give you something you can take back to your members and implement, this course will be an intensive, four days of practical skills drilling coupled with some discussion/lecture. If your organization has a plan, this course is still for you, as you may find yourself struggling to bridge the gap between military and civilian, police and fire, and even volunteer and career. We will not offer easy answers, but we will cover these topics in detail and help find solutions.

In addition, our AzCFSE Active Shooter Course will investigate Active Violence threats and note the successes, challenges, and failures of the past two decades. We will hear from experts, survivors and first responders of actual Active Violence events. Since the course is highly interactive, we will also be featuring NAEMT’s Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) certification, a 16-hour course designed to help FIre/EMS providers prepare for work in a dynamic, potentially violent scene. This certification will be provided at the end of class.

We can no longer pretend these things only happen to other people. Join us!

Target Audience:

This course is in accordance with the Principles of Guidelines Instruction set by the Committee for Tactical Emergency Casualty Care and is specifically targeted for representatives of public safety organizations who want to share and proactively develop integrated outreach and response strategies to prevent or mitigate the impact a violent mass casualty incident can have on their communities.

Registration Notice:

Registration cost is $185.00 plus a small processing fee. All students must have or obtain an ERMA ID number. www.erma.az.gov.

Hotel:

The host hotel for the fire school is the Phoenix Marriott Mesa Hotel, 200 N Centennial Way, Mesa, AZ 85201. Individuals are responsible for making their own hotel reservations.
